Burgundy and Roses

Red wine. Cymbidium orchids. Cherries. Rihanna’s hair. A lot of romantic, exotic and delicious things are burgundy-colored. Burgundy manages to be opulent and subdued at the same time. It’s a serious and sensual color with a flattering shade for every skin tone.

Normally, I might reserve an all-burgundy ensemble for a sexy date-night or a formal affair, but in an office-worthy silhouette, this is perfectly appropriate for work while paying homage to the feminine mystique.

1. Burgundy turtleneck.  (I have this in four colors and love them.  They’ve been staples for me through this past winter.)   2. J.Crew skirt is sold out, but try this one or this one in leather.   3. Croc-embossed pumps by Elizabeth and James are sold out, but these are similar and these are a timeless investment shoe.   4. Labradorite pendant necklace. 5. Alexis Bittar bracelet is no longer available, but this lucite hinge bracelet is similar.   6. I’ve had the YSL Muse tote for years and still love it.
