As much as I’d prefer NOT to wear my running clothes all day, it’s a new reality that isn’t always worth fighting. But as I said earlier this week, I’ve decided to stop apologizing for it and start embracing it.

For years, the only people who ever saw me in my workout clothes were my husband and our three kids, so I haven’t cared much about how I look when I workout. As a result, I haven’t updated my workout wardrobe for quite some time. So, in order to help me embrace my occasional all-day workout wear lifestyle better, I headed over to Athleta for a little wardrobe upgrade.
I started shopping exclusively at Athleta a few years ago after becoming fed up with the exorbitant cost of that other uber-popular workout wear designer (rhymes with jujujemon) and I’m so glad I did. Many of my favorite items – my tried and true, go-to articles – are from Athleta. They fit great, hold up fabulously in the wash, and always come in a variety of flattering styles and colors.

Since running is still what I love to do most for exercise, I started my search looking for some fun clothes to run in and found some great outfits in cheerful colors and patterns that are energizing in an of themselves.
Next, I went on the hunt for something to wear to my mat Pilates class, since I’ve folded that into my exercise routine every week.

Finally, I picked up a few outfits I can mix and match with some items I already own for multi-functional use and all-day wear.
Now, instead of my usual one-look-for-all-seasons uniform of head-to-toe black, I have a handful of great options in fun styles to wear that suit the occasion. Whether I’m hiking, headed to a gym, taking Pilates, running trails, or just running on my treadmill and working out at home, I can do it wearing something appropriate, comfortable, and specifically suited to the sport or exercise I’m doing. I love it. It was long overdue.
