Cashmere costs a fortune for a reason: It’s effortlessly chic, timeless and classic, looks great and feels even better. A well-cared for cashmere sweater can be worn season after season from one decade to the next and never go out of style.
The benefits don’t end there. Cashmere also has a curiously awesome talent for being neither too hot nor too cold. Unlike your merino or other wool sweaters, it’s not bulky and good-quality cashmere doesn’t itch. Maybe best of all: The best cashmere is lighter than air and thin, so a good cashmere sweater is perfect for layering under jackets and over dresses.
If you recall, this last summer I developed a minor obsession with layering tees and tanks over my easy summer dresses and it’s an obsession that shows all signs of extending into cold-weather versions this fall.
Not only is this simple styling trick a great way to wear your warm-weather dresses after summer, it looks chic, feels relaxed, and doesn’t require much inventiveness.
For this look, I styled my beloved Enza Costa midi dress (also cashmere and finally available and on sale on TheOutnet.com!!) with a a favorite camel-colored cashmere sweater and suede ankle boots (which are also on sale now on TheOutnet,.com) to keep the look more casual. I added a leopard print, faux fur coat for a little glam infusion, but like the look without it just as much.
