If X marks the spot, the spot is on Enza Costa.

Shopping for “basics” online is tough. The $10 tee looks identical to the $115 tee (except for the label!) and there’s really no guarantee that you’re getting more for more. So when it comes to buying wardrobe basics, there’s no substitute for the touch-and-feel quality test.

Enza Costa, however, takes the guesswork out of the equation for me.

I was introduced to this under-the-radar label a few years ago and have been a fan ever since. They offer simple, well-designed basics in high-quality (often cashmere blend) fabrics that feel great and age well. I have absolute confidence in their products and, all things being equal, I’ll choose Enza Costa over a similar-looking item every time.

1. My dress – cashmere, long-sleeved, crew-neck dress – in black. A lightweight version, also in black, is a great choice for the warmer weather. Or try this version with a sexy twist detail in the back. 2. Try this drape front vest or, for cooler months, try this gorgeous black wool vest. 3. Newbury knee-high boots from Rag and Bone aren’t currently available, but these pull-on boots from Frye are a great-looking, less-expensive alternative. 4.  Smoky quartz pendant from Ippolita.  5. YSL Easy bag.  6. Spike bracelet is by Eddie Borgo and not available, but this one is similar and, as is this inexpensive version.  7. Corkcicle stainless steal canteen.
